Sarah Palin of Alaska, had not arrived there until the day before McCain announced his vice-presidential choice." Which means--bonus!--McCain lied to America about whether he vetted her. Which leads me to the second-best graf: "Although the McCain campaign said that Mr. McCain had known about Bristol Palin's pregnancy before he asked her mother to join him on the ticket and that he did not consider it disqualifying, top aides were vague on Monday about how and when he had learned of the pregnancy, and from whom."

Palin's desperation regarding this matter is breathtaking. I can't believe she thought the best way to dispel rumors that Bristol gave birth to Trig was to claim that Bristol is five months pregnant. Couldn't she have just produced a birth certificate & a doctor's testimony, thereby protecting Bristol from further humiliation?
